La Madrugada
Le Fil Rouge
La Madrugada is that moment just before sunrise. Still hidden by the horizon, its light reaches us in the colourful silence of the morning. Some of the stars are still there, glowing red and fresh...
La Madrugada is the title of Mandy Lerouge's repertoire, taking us to Argentina. It's also "dawn" in Spanish, the moment of the day when Mandy Lerouge first heard Argentine folk music, on a coach taking her to the Andes.
La Madrugada is an invitation to travel, far from Buenos Aires and the tango, to the north of the country, to the lands of the Guaraní people, the Quechuas and the gauchos, between red earth, rushing rivers, humid jungle and wild pampas. It's also a journey to meet the great Argentine authors and composers (Atahualpa Yupanqui, Ramón Ayala, Cuchi Leguizamón), to discover the scenes of life, the landscapes and the rhythms of Chacarera, Zamba and Chamamé.
A repertoire collected from the north-east to the north-west of the country, on horseback, on foot, by coach, recorder in hand, in contact with the people. A repertoire drawn from the great Argentine tradition, arranged with elegance, sobriety and a touch of modernity by Argentine pianist and composer Lalo Zanelli (Gotan Project, François Béranger, Melingo, Daniel Mille, Pierre Bertrand, Minino Garay). Produced by Vincent Segal and recorded at Studio La Buissonne.
